German Ambassador to Georgia Peter Fischer on Wednesday said the country’s “lack of progress” in the implementation of nine priorities outlined by the European Union for Georgia to open accession negotiations was a “big concern” for Germany.
Fischer’s comments followed the meeting with the visiting official Sven Giegold, the State Secretary in the German Ministry for Economic Affairs, who also met Maka Botchorishvili, the Chair of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament.
It is good that Giegold and Botchorishvili met yesterday. [There was] an honest exchange of ideas”, he added.

Peter Fischer, the German Ambassador to Georgia, on Tuesday highlighted Georgia’s “significant progress” in rapprochement with the European Union and called for progress in the implementation of the steps outlined by the European Commission for opening accession talks with the country.
